The East Brunswick New Jersey Stake is nestled in the quaint town of East Brunswick. This is the stake that President Henry B. Eyring was born and raised, as a young boy his father was a professor at Princeton University. President Henry B. Eyring of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostle, speaks fondly of his New Jersey roots and connection to the East Brunswick stake. Elder Ronald Rasband, of the Quorum of the Twelve served his mission in the stake. This is the stake that makes Apostles!
The East Brunswick New Jersey stake currently has seven buildings and twelve wards and branches, three of the branches are conducted entirely in Spanish. The stake is uniquely blended with diverse cultures and members from all walks of life. The location of the ward and branches within the stake are of considerable distance apart which does make it a challenge to meet as a stake. However twice a year in April and October, on 303 Durham Corner road, members are often in abundance at the stake center for stake conference.
Stake conference is a time set aside for church members to hear from the stake president, usually from a general authority and members of the stake. The meetings are generally for two hours and it’s a time where members are spiritually edified by the messages shared, as they meet with members from other wards and branches or catch-up with missionaries who previously served in their area.
Twice in the year members are visited by the stake presidency and other leaders in the stake for ward conference. These meetings are at the local level, at the ward or branch locations. Its a time for members to meet the stake presidency and for local leaders, such as the bishop and branch presidents to receive council from the stake president and other stake advisors, like the Relief Society Presidents and Primary Presidents. The stake president learns a great deal of the needs of the ward and branch members and their leaders and they address concerns, give guidance and council. The East Brunswick New Jersey Stake is a supportive stake that cares for it’s members.
Members live in the stake boundaries, which is a geographical region and they hold membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is a global and International church, with members throught the world. The stake is under the authority of The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and follows it’s leadership and guidance. Members are expected to live wholesome lives and abide by the standards of the Church.
The Church has a strong belief in the family unit being the most important in our society. Husbands and wife are to care for each other. As parents, they are given divine responsibilites to love and care for their children and to raise them with love and righteousness, to provide for them and to teach them to love, serve, observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens.
